Through kilometers of roads
Either find a way, or make
(Or find your way, or lay it yourself)
What do you need, to get to any settlement? You need to take a road map or a plan of the area, find the city or village you want and draw the shortest possible route. Today it is also possible to use the navigator, who will do all the necessary operations for us. And what needs to be done then, when we pave the way to the heart of another person? There are no maps or coordinates here: you have to act at the behest of the most perfect navigator, given to us by the Almighty - our own heart. The Khmelnytsky charitable foundation "Hesed Besht" has a program, which is engaged in both tasks at the same time.
The regional development program is designed to keep in touch with remote settlements and clients from the central office.. This is done by regional curators., Fund manager and drivers. Time consuming process, painstaking and not simple. Hundreds, or even thousands of kilometers a month people travel only for a short visit, frank conversation, delivering a grocery or shabbat set. And that's all because, that there is no difference among clients of the Khmelnytsky Charitable Foundation "Hesed Besht", each of them is important for us and the slogan “Reach every client!»Is valid for both regional centers, and for the periphery. Everywhere, where do Jews live, The Foundation will carry out its noble humanitarian mission, protecting and helping, delighting and supporting community members, members of their families or the Righteous Among the Nations of the World.
The regional program works in 92 settlements of Khmelnytsky and Ternopil regions. The beginning of the calendar year is accompanied by home visits to distant clients for a personal inspection by the manager of a person's living conditions, assessment of his health, clarifying needs. Particular attention is paid to the microclimate in the human family: if the client is not lonely, what kind of relationship does he have with a soul mate or children, if it is a family - in what conditions do their children live?. An integrated approach allows us to provide the client with the most effective assistance, because by solving only one problem it is impossible to completely remove a person's social or moral stress. In addition to the responsible manager, the Director of the Hesed Besht Foundation, Igor Ratushny, often visits, to better understand people and work, which is run by his organization.
The regional program manager is constantly in touch with the curators in the field. The transfer of information from clients to the central office and feedback from clients determines the greatest effect of the services provided.
Except visits, the regional development program includes activities for members of remote communities in the field. In recent years, the project "The road will be mastered by the walking" has been implemented, designed to bring art and aesthetics to clients, once again gather everyone together for a cup of tea and a heartfelt song. Meetings like these provide a much better understanding of people's needs., who entrusted us with custody of themselves.
Also, the regional program has a great impact on strengthening local communities and building cooperation with local authorities or public organizations.. Often, the Foundation's events are held jointly with other organizations., who are social partners of the Hesed Besht Foundation and also provide certain care or assistance to our clients. Developing these connections benefits both our Jewish community, and society as a whole.
Constantly on the road, under the noise of the engine and in a kaleidoscope of changing landscapes outside the window, the regional development program is working. All routes are already marked on road maps, however, the paths to the hearts of customers require particularly meticulous routing. No road markings or signs are needed here - the main thing, so that this is done under the sign of kindness and love for neighbors.

The main task of the Center, which was created to improve the quality of life of the Fund's clients and to ensure two-way communication with them, there is a search for and involvement of potential recipients of charitable assistance. Suffice it to say, that these people live not only in Khmelnytsky and Ternopil, but also in the most remote corners of these areas. So today the field of activity of the Center is 101 settlement. The center studies the needs of people and provides them with the full range of necessary services, involves volunteers in charitable work, conducts work with administrative and public organizations in the settlements of activity. Conditionally, it can be divided into two sections: “Home care” and “Region”.
A significant increase in the absolute number and percentage of the elderly in relation to the total population of the country are the realities of today. Boarding houses are not able to accommodate all those in need. The number of disabled is growing, living separately from their relatives and also in need of care. The need for social assistance to this category of citizens has become significant, and demographic prospects predict an even greater increase in the proportion of older people. All this led to the creation of a special structural unit, which meets the needs of household services and social services at the place of residence of customers.
The main task of the program is to provide assistance to elderly people in everyday household affairs, psychologically help them to overcome loneliness, to involve in more active social life and national-cultural traditions.
All this work, which is entrusted to patronage workers, is a complex process, which requires knowledge of psychology, sociology, pedagogy, medicine, jurisprudence, economy, management theory and other fields. The effectiveness of this work largely depends on the employee, his skills, experience, personal qualities.
Today the program serves 318 customers, which are taken care of 65 social workers. And for everyone they find a warm word, give comfort, hope and peace.
Since September 2011 year, a new program "Intellectual Patronage", designed for less mobile customers, who do not have enough communication. During the visit, the employee communicates with his ward on the topics of history and traditions; they, example, jointly make a postcard, dedicated to Jewish holidays, which the customer can send to another person.
Since the beginning of the organization, the regional program has worked in 67 settlements of Khmelnytsky region. For, to best meet customer needs, on the territory of two regions – Khmelnytsky and Ternopil, was created 16 regional offices headed by curators of the region. They are engaged in questionnaires, study people's needs and provide specific assistance to customers. In order to provide quality and efficient services, close cooperation of all curators, exchange and implementation of the best practices, Meetings of regional curators are held monthly. All curators were trained at the Kyiv Institute of Social and Community Workers, visited field seminars in many hesedas of Ukraine. A Passport has been created for each region, in which all the necessary information for work is collected: population data, addresses of clients and members of their families, the number of the Righteous Among the Nations, former ghetto and concentration camp prisoners, participants of the Great Patriotic War, disabled people.
The program initiated a successful project called Hesed Besht Foundation Open Day. The purpose of the program – to open the doors of the Foundation for residents of all regions, show his work, implement cultural and educational projects and promote broad public relations.
Today the program works in 101 settlement of Khmelnytsky and Ternopil regions, where it was interviewed 5000 persons. Of these, the Fund's clients are 1705 male. Among the clients of the Foundation: Righteous peoples of the world – 34, young people with disabilities-151.
